The 15 Food Factors: What To Do If You Are Confused About Healthy Eating

Most of these are not conscious choices – especially since we all have busy lives and often have to grab whatever is convenient and fits in with what we’re doing at the time.

There are actually 15 choices we have to make every day with our eating, which I call the 15 Food Factors.

As a result of these 15 factors, everyone eats differently from everyone else and diet is such a personal, emotive, and large part of our life.

You eat differently to me, I eat differently to all of my friends, they all eat differently to each other and their families and friends eat differently to them and so on…

Here are the 15 Food Factors:

  1. What we eat (and drink)

  2. When we eat

  3. How many times per day we eat

  4. How much we eat at each meal and in total

  5. Whether to follow a healthy diet or not

  6. Which ‘healthy’ diet to choose

  7. Cooked or raw

  8. Meat eater, vegetarian or vegan

  9. Include supplements or not

  10. Organic or non-organic

  11. Home-prepared or shop/restaurant bought

  12. Packaged or whole foods

  13. Who or what we allow to influence us (family, TV, diet books, emotions, level of hunger)

  14. What is available, accessible and affordable

  15. Planned and prepared in advance or eating ‘on the fly’

Most of these are not conscious choices – especially since we all have busy lives and often have to grab whatever is convenient and fits in with what we’re doing at the time.

We also eat for pleasure and as a social experience, as well as for fuel.

On top of this, there are so many foods to choose from and so many diets we can follow.

Every plausible diet seems to contradict the next – Paleo Diet, Cambridge Diet, 5:2 Fasting Diet, Raw Vegan Diet, Dukan Diet, Blood Group Diet, Wind Change Diet…

(Ok, I made up the last one)

The list is endless.

And then of course there’s the Alkaline Diet. But even within the Alkaline Diet there is discrepancies – one alkaline food list differs from the next.

With all this choice, is it any wonder we are confused and not sure what to eat for the best?!

No, it is to be expected.

And the irony is that even with so much choice, it is STILL hard to find healthy foods in the food shops and restaurants – adding to the confusion.

“A confused mind takes no action”

With diet and health this translates to:

“A confused mind eats what it thinks is healthy but not really sure about and since it’s not sure, it takes the ‘everything in moderation’ approach or ‘a little of what you fancy does you good’ approach or the ‘f*** it, you only live once, I may as well enjoy my food’ approach.”[/content_box_yellow]

I was not prepared to settle for so much choice and confusion in my life, I knew there had to be a Simple, Satisfying, Sustainable, Super-Healthy and SYSTEMATISED  way of eating –the ‘5-S diet approach’ as I like to call it.

…I have been on a 15-year quest of research and experimentation to discover it.

And by jove, I’ve found it! 🙂

I was confused for years but now, thankfully, I am 100% certain on what to eat every day.

Food freedom at last! It’s a beautiful feeling!
