Hi, I am Laura Wilson 🙂 I am the founder of Alkaline Diet Health Tips, which I set up back in 2008 to help people like you to live in abundant health, no matter what your starting point.
Initially, I set up our sister site – www.AlkalineDietHealthTips.com and a year later I set up this site in WordPress – a much easier platform to maintain. Each site offers a different experience and information, so do browse both.
If you have not done so already, your first port-of-call should be to subscribe to our free newsletter. When you subscribe, I send you a 100% free 38-page alkaline diet recipe book, designed to help you transition to becoming more alkaline.
Plus, you’ll get a free 4-part video series presented by me, which explains all about the alkaline diet – what it is, the science behind it, why it’s so good for health, healing, fat loss and improved energy and lots of tips for alkalizing your body.
My Struggles With Health
Back in 1998 when I was studying Law at university in Birmingham (UK), I was following a very unhealthy lifestyle. I was a smoker and drank a fair bit and had lots of late nights and rarely exercised – living the typical student lifestyle. I wasn’t terribly overweight but I was unfit, out of shape and carrying about a stone and half (20lbs) more than I am these days (UK size 12, I’m now a size 8).
I lived in catered halls of residence and our breakfasts were mainly cooked ‘full English’ type affairs – you know, bacon and eggs and sausages. Evening meals were no better – spaghetti Bolognese, chicken pie, burger and chips, lasagne with lots of cheese, with the occasional small portion of cooked vegetables, boiled to within an inch of their lives.
Leafy greens? Never heard of them. Fruits? Erm no – chocolate and crisps were my default snack choice.
I most certainly did not feel good on this lifestyle at all. My daily default feeling was LETHARGY – tiredness and sluggishness and I got a lot of colds.
Feeling tired and sluggish physically had a knock on effect to my mental health – I had a lack of enthusiasm, apathy, lowered self-esteem and confidence, lack of direction.
Granted, I was young and you don’t know yourself so well at that age, but a poor diet affected EVERYTHING in my life for the worse.
At age 20, I had a wake-up call. I got mild alcohol poisoning which gave me a rash all over my legs. This was the last straw for me, I knew I had to change and I made the decision to become healthier there and then.
