Laura, I had a big open sore in the middle of my tongue for about 4 years now (suffering from Collagenous Colitis for 4 years) and could hardly taste any food I ate. Since I have been alkalizing, it is disappearing and is only a small little mark now! How do I thank you for your wonderful work? THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Leave A Comment Below & I’ll Respond…
thank you im on a low cal diet because im 15 stone .6bls and going to weigh watchers. we do points instead of counting cal.s but it works out 1.200 a day to get a 1 to 2 pounds loss weekly. i have also Myasthenia gravis and wanted to give your diet ago with WW at the some time
Keep going, sounds like you’re doing well Avril and you’ll definitely improve the quality of your diet if it’s more alkaline-forming! Do you need help with anything?
hi can i cook my oats or do i have to have them raw? and is Almond milk ok ?
Yep sure – you can have them raw and almond ilk is just fine! 🙂
hi im on a 1.200 cal diet .what is my 70-30 thank you
Hi Avril,
Around 840 cals alkaline and the rest can be acidic. Why are you on such a low calorie diet?
Laura 🙂
I just wanted to ask if you will be optimizing your web page and videos to work on phones and tablets at anytime. As I never use a PC these days and cannot view your video’s because they are run in flash 🙁
Hi Tina,
I now use a video provider that is viewable on mobiles and tablet devices, anything I create now is easily viewable, hope that helps 🙂

Having trouble signing up for the recipe book.
Hello,
What is your opinion on food combining for better digestion? Like no protein with starchy vegetables, eat melons alone, eat fruit alone…etc.
Thank you for your time.
Hi Nicole,
Yes, good food combining is imperative – fruits first, alone. Protein and fats last and best not to combine all 3 food types. Mono-meals are best -eg 5 bananas for breakfast. Will be doing an article on this soon…
The list of acid/alkaline foods is excellent. It helps explain foods that a moderately acid and why certain foods are on some other lists. Thanks
Hi
I can’t seem to open the video’s 1’2’3’4’5.
Thanks
Irene
I’d suggest updating your browser
Thank you for the help. Is this a vegan diet? I am having a problem with the fifty reasons why I want the great health. I am also working on quitting smoking. Is this too much to work on.?
Yes, pretty much the same as a raw vegan diet. I would work on one thing at a time personally. Giving up smoking is probably the biggest priority at this stage (highly acidifying, so this in itself will help your body alkalise). This will give you the impetus to make some dietary changes.
Hi Laura
Just wanted to know how important it is to have the supplements/superfoods. Does it make a big difference to the results you get if you take these regularly or can you still see good results without them?
Jenni
Could you tell me what is the deal with the baking soda, is this bi-carb, I use a little no-salt, in my water, is this ok, also use pepper in it, ground black, help, thanks
thank you so much again for your website, totally fab
Hi, question about spices, do they fit into the diet, saffron, (favourite), chilli and garlic, also having trouble getting the alkaline food list, thanks
Yep – spices are fine to eat. Foods list has been re-uploaded and working fine now 🙂
I would like the recpie book

I do need the recipe book. I have watched the video and have osteoporosis, so must build my porous bones. Thank You for all the alkaline diet help. Jonell Dean
You’re welcome Jonell 🙂 An alkaline body will help combat your osteoporosis
In all the Raw food blending that I have tried over the last 3 months, I have found that the more simple I make the combination the better the flavour.
Thank you for your input to my information,
Regards, Greg
Hi Greg – agreed! Simplicity IS often better an tastier! Glad to hear you’re doing so well with your raw food blending 🙂
I have made a decision to get healthy to save my life. Yes, I wish I had taken care of myself better over the years but I didn’t and now I deal with the consequences. I am 57 and I have stage IV breast cancer. I have 4 grown children and I want to be here for them. Their father died 7 years ago. And I want to live for my own enjoyment as well! Someday there will be more grandchildren to love and enjoy. Life is full of beauty. There are places to see and people to meet. Like you said I have dreams, visions and goals to see to fulfillment! So bring on the alkaline diet and thank you abundantly for your help. Watch me regain my health! I WILL DO IT.
Go Jody!!! Wishing you every success in the fulfillment of your dreams, you can do it! You obviously have the passion, drive and have seen the bad times, now it’s time for more of the good times. Please keep us updated with your progress 🙂
With love,
Laura
Not really a comment but how do I submit my name and e-mail to get the free Alkaline Diet Transition Recipe Book and notifications of next videos and resources as noted above – nothing seems to work ??
Looks like you already did John – you only arrive at this page once you’ve subscribed. Check your spam box and add my e-mail address to your contacts. Please submit a contact form e-mail if still no luck
Hi there,
The reason I’m doing the alkaline diet is to hopefully repair nerve damage I got in my inner ear due to a virus that I got – doctors believe it is the herpes / chicken pox virus that lives in your body that can flare up at any time in your life and cause neuralgia, shingles, etc or vestibular neuritis which is what I got and it has left me constantly dizzy due to my vestibular nerve being damaged.
Do you know if that is at all possible because I have read so many conflicting opinions on that. Some say nerves can never heal and others say in an alkaline environment it can??????
Regards
Nadine
Hi Nadine,
I believe 100% that it an heal. All the evidence related to alkaline diet states exactly that: In an alkaline environment, disease cannot prevail
Dr Linus Pauling discovered this back in the 1930s. Have faith and apply alkaline diet principles. Are you drinking wheatgrass? Check it out here: http://alkaline-diet-health-tips.com/megagreens
Great info, well prepared and shared!
Thanks Sue, much appreciated 🙂
hi there,
I am 7 weeks pregnant and wanting to start alkaline diet.
I like your idea of 70 alkaline and 30 acidic.
How can i make a transition since i am experiencing the nausea feeling.
I have been concentrating in eating more veggies, salad and drinking smoothies or juicing.
Thank you,
Hello!
I am glad that you are out there helping us alkalize. 🙂 I started the Alkalizing diet 8 days ago using Dr. Young’s pH Miracle Diet book as a guide. So far, I have lost 10 pounds and the chronic back pain that I have had for over a year now because of a pinched nerve has almost ceased to exist! I will say this though- the first four days or so were uncomfortable in that I was VERY achy and stiff. I increased my water from 2 to 5 liters (I add greens powder to my water) and although I am in the bathroom a lot, my pains are gone. That alone is reason enough to continue. The fact that I still have about 100lbs of weight to lose is another.
I was a vegetarian to begin with, so the eating plan is not completely foreign to me. However, I got away from eating whole foods and it is a slippery slope. My concerns at this time are being able to continue with such strict eating and drinking. I am leaving tomorrow for a roadtrip and although I have mapped out locations for health food stores along the way, I know it will be tricky to not eat in a more convenient fashion. I plan on bringing a cooler in the car with me and filling it with cut up veggies, almond butter and milk, avocados, and spelt bread.
Any other suggestions??
Thank you for all that you are doing to spread the news!
My diet has been 80% acidic and 20% alkaline for many years. Now I’ve been diagnosed as having breast cancer….a big wake up call to change my diet and nutrition. I have already given up sugar altogether and not missing it. Looking forward to being healthy and vibrant!
Hi, Laura
What is your opinion on taking nutritional’s?
Please explain the usage of baking soda with water. I need the amount and how often. BTW, I am suffering from severe GERD and Pre-diabetic.
Thank you.
I have had sugar and bread cravings all my life. I have been on several different depression medicines, but they still couldn’t control my depression. I got to a point that I tried to kill myself with an overdose of pills. I worried about my liver and kidneys after I had put them through all that. I read on several web sites that an alkaline diet could help on depression, so I started looking in to it. Because of the conflicting alkaline tables out there, I started out with a transition diet of cutting out sugar, breads, coffee and processed foods. That was a big adjustment but I have seen a difference. Now I’m ready to take it a step further.
Hi Laura
Firstly please let me say thnk you for all your very valuable information it has been an absolute god send and I do believe it just may save my life.
You see last year 2010 I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and was told to go home and put my affairs in order as 6 months sounded like a good number. That was simply not acceptable to me and I started researching & researching & researching. I wholely and soley believe in alkalisation ( such a word ? ) and building the immune system to a peak performance.
Last Sunday I lost my partner to Lung and Brain mets which has only fueled my determination to throw myself even further in depth with all the knowledge about acidity/alkanise that I can garner.
Also this is one of the very few group comments that I have ever commented on. So thank you for being you and making this possible as I live in a remote area and not really one for putting myself out there. Your hard work has made this a reality for me.
It has now been 10 mths and still counting…
I am trying to learn more about an alkiline diat to better my health.
I have an inlarged prostrate and was told that an alkiline diate would help
Hi Laura.
i have just started to watch your videos and i am really impressed with them.
i do have a question for you though. i have always believed porridge to be a super food with its many excellent health benefits, do i now have to cut it out of my diet or reduce the amount i have because it is too acidic?
Allan
Hi Laura,
Thank you so much for all of your valuable information and commitment to help others be in good health. I am 65 years old and have struggled with my weight all my life. I now am doing my very best to begin the alkaline diet. I have eliminated all flour, sugar, dairy and almost all meat, sugar substitutes, caffeine, and sodas. I didn’t think this was possible due to failing on almost all former diets/eatling plans. I love the alkaline foods with all of their flavors and textures. I am taking one step at a time. I have increased my intake of water immensely and am now looking into making my water more alkaline and adding the green powder to it. I admit I still want sweets, but I have been using a small amount of pure honey mixed with coconut and sunflower seeds and a small amount of that mixture helps me tremendously. Thank you again, Laura. I appreciate you so much. May all that you give return to you 100 fold.
Bev
Bev, thank you for your kind words and wishes, much appreciated.
You are following a pretty amazing diet by the sounds of it, very well done – a great example of how we can all make shifts in our eating habits for the better 🙂
Hi Laura,
I have been in the health food industry for 40 years. You are spot on correct and a huge plus to all. I have a question regarding nuts and seeds in your food list.Under alkaline foods many seeds are listed, but in the acid column it states that all nuts and seeds are moderately acid. Can you clarify this for me? I make almond milk and use many seeds so this is important to me.
Almonds are alkaline, other nuts are strictly determined to be mildly acidic. Still ok though if considered in 70:30 alkaline:acid ratio, they contain good essential fats
A lot of seeds are alkaline – check the list
Good morning, I have been on a alkaline diet for 3 months now I feel good and fighting cancer.
thank you and keep well.
Thys
Great news Thys, wishing you a strong and speedy recovery back to great health.
Laura
Hello Laura,
A pleasant day to u, and thanks very much. I’m 62 yrs old, my health issues are sinus, and allergy, other wise I’m in ok health, I have started to drink my 2 liters of water per day and have reach my target, I cook my food I don’t buy food outside,I made whole grain pita bread and tried the Baba Ghanoush, and I also tried the apple carrot salad, they tasted really good, the only problem is that have to use the washroom more often than normal, so that’s my exercise, I had to cook the chickpeas with pakchoi, but not with spinach, so I have to try that one,I also take braggs apple cider vinegar once a day, thanks for all ur advise, and may god bless u always.
Sharon.
Hi Sharon,
Glad to hear you’re drinking 2 litres of water, well done. I’m glad you’re enjoying the recipes too 🙂
Best wishes,
Laura
high laura, its good to hear from you again after so long, we lost touch because of computer problems, i never did get your recipe for the food side of things, i did get the rest of the down load, my friend celia purchased the pdf files for herself and me, think it was last year, she thought she had copied everything, we have the smoothies they are great, , i am a bit confused over this hemp seed, is it only available in england, i am told in australia it is elegal.
i am so sorry i cant listen to your videos, i am only on dial up, and its far too slow, is it possible for you to have written pages we can read instead. we both are missing out on everything,
i am really interested about these dehydraters, what is there perpose regarding food,
i am always putting on too much weight when i go away, so would be very interested what you have to say about handling this, i get so upset with myself. thanks laura, from joanne
Hi Joanne,
Hmm, I wasn’t aware that hemp seed is not available in Aus, alhthough it wouldn’t surprise me, I guess you might be able to grow cannabis from it?!
Shame that you can’t watch the videos as you’re on dial up. You’ll see that I have included PDF slides of the second video and other downloadable related docs like recipe sheets too, so you can still get some of the info.
Dehydrators are good – you can produce dried fruit and veg, so can make things like veg pizza bases. I have friends who absolutely love them! No real beenfit over eating raw though.
Thanks,
Laura
vegetables are alkaliing but when you cook them they become acidic, so the question is if im eating 70 / 30 , 70% must be raw. can you be clearer on the raw and cook vegetable aspect of eating
Hi Andrea,
All vegetables on the alkaline foods list (which you an download from this page) are alkaline – cooked or raw, but not tinned, frozen or processed. The thing with cooking is that it destroys around 80% of the powerful enzymes which are so beneficial and alkalizing to our bodies. It’s like oxidised alcohol – if you leave a glass of wine on a table for 3 days, it oxidises and turns to vinegar and you would not get drunk by drinking it – it’s lost its alcoholic potency.
Therefore, it is always preferrable to eat vegetables raw, maybe with the exception of tomatoes, which research has shown are more beneficial to the body after cooking (releases lycopene).
I hope this helps 🙂
Laura
Thanks for your informative Video Laura.
I am new to all this. I’ve also been looking into water Ionizers.
what is your opinion on adding a little lemon and or lime juice to tap water? would this procedure be enough to achieve a good quality alkaline water to drink?
Hi Robert,
Lemon and lime juice – YES! Great addition to tap water to alkalize. However, a water ionizer will also remove impurities and heavy metals etc, that adding lemon/lime juice will obviously not do. Lemon and lime is certainly a great start but will not produce a super high quality alkaline water.
Cheers,
Laura
Hey Laura, Thank you for this very helpful video the part about writing down 50 benefits of having optimum health is very motivational once you actually get down and start writing them out. You answered alot of good questions I was wondering about in this video and I’m sure many people like myself will find it useful as well. Thanks again and keep up the great work. Peace.
Oh good, glad you found it useful Erik. Did you discover anything surprising when you wrote out your 50 reasons why you want optimum health? Any ones you hadn’t consciously thought of before?
Thank you for the kind feedback,
Laura
Hi, really loved your video and your website as a whole. Your passion for this life-style is very evident and is quite refreshing. It’s difficult to convince people they have to change years of conditioning by society to become healthy and live longer, but you do it very well. Your explanations are complete and to the point, obviously the result of comprehensive research and a love of the topic. Again, well done! You’ve got a convert here!
Hi Brian,
Yes exactly! Difficult to change years of conditioning but with the right knowledge, encouragement and a simple plan it can make it a lot easier hey. Glad you’re converted, well done!
Laura
Wow! Very impressive website, well put together, clean. I’d like to thank you for the invitation to review as I am going to be coming back often. You’re very good at what you do, passionate about your service and you certainly deliver in the knowledge department. I’m certified in nutritional healing and as an herbalist so I can tell that you understand way more than just the basics. Actually, you are better versed than I am by a long shot! Speaking of which, I do have a question for you concerning body ph and fermented foods. Specifically about apple-cider vinegar, which I was under the impression was the one of the best methods for regulating your ph. Is this “old hat” and found to be not true? At least for diets concerning diabetes, apple-cider vinegar, sauer kraut, and yogurt are considered good nutrients. Apparently they’re not much for the ph problem, eh?
Thank you Woody.
You’re right, apple cider vinegar leaves an alkaline ash residue in the body, so whilst acidic in its physical form, it has an alkalizing effect on the body. I know it’s been reported to have positive effects on people with diabetes, acne, high cholesterol, dandruff and a number of other illnesses and ailments. However, it has also been reported to have negative effects on bone density and excessive use can cause damage to digestive tract, so it’s to be used in moderation. As for sauer kraut and yoghurt – these are likely to be pretty acidic.
I would personally recommend drinking lemon juice in hot water in the morning on an empty stomach to cleanse, detoxify and alkalise the body.
Keep up the good work with North Idaho Herbal!
Laura
