Something weird happened today…

So I got back from a 3 week working holiday in San Diego on Tuesday, I am very jet lagged – only had 6 hours sleep in last 3 days 🙁

(I had an amazing time BTW, surfing with sharks, track racing fast cars, High Performance Academy seminar, parties, new friends!)

Now, I have not been to the gym for 3 weeks, 3 WEEKS!! I got every day normally, I haven’t had that long off since I was 20 lol! Let’s just say I really love to work out and the benefits it brings 🙂

Since my body clock is all out of kilter and I want to establish some sort of normal routine again, I decided to go and do a workout this afternoon.

Now this is what happened and it’s very strange:

Firstly, I got all NERVOUS about going! What?! This place is like my second home! But I felt anxious about it – like would I remember how to run or something or what if I’d lost all my fitness lol!

Stupid I know, but I felt daunted by it.

I gave myself a little shake, put on my shorts, t-shirt and trainers and got in my car and went.

After stretching, the fist thing I did was get on the cross trainer. My standard routine on the cross trainer (I know, I know, I should probably mix it up a bit) is 40 minutes on level 13 at pretty high intensity. I have been doing this for 10 YEARS.

So here’s the second weird thing: After about 2 mins, my calves started to hurt and then my quads. WHAT?? Have my muscles turned to mush?

Then my lungs started to hurt, in fact at one point I felt sick. Now, in my defence, my jet-lag means I’m not at peak performance, but this definitely and very rudely reminded me that we USE IT OR LOSE IT!

Now here’s the best part:

After around 10 mins of hard slog on the cross trainer, my focus, determination, passion and endorphins, I’m guessing, kicked in. NOW I was enjoying it! In fact more so than normally – it was a real challenge and I felt great!!

This reminded me that sometimes the results we want and the feelings we desire are just beyond the point of frustration/ pain/annoyance and so often we are inclined to give up at the last hurdle and can miss all the benefits that we deserve.

KEEP GOING!

Persistence and resilience are wonderful characteristics to cultivate – so why not have fun with it? Challenge yourself to do something that is just past your point of frustration or that you’ve given up on?

For example, I am setting myself a 30-day challenge to get back on track with my healthy eating, after a lapse in California, by drinking green juices and smoothies  every day.

(The recipe is here, if you want to try it: http://alkaline-diet-health-tips.com/alkaline-smoothie)

I am also in the throes of creating a 60-day alkaline diet group coaching programme to launch over the next few weeks, so that I can help you stay healthy and achieve SUPREME health, even over the December holiday period.

So that’s all for now, let me now your thoughts and feelings – what challenges have you pushed through in your life and glad that you did?

Also, let me know anything you’d like to see in the coaching prog – there is a meal plan, 60 days of ‘health conditioning’ which you’ll love! I’ll let you know more later 🙂

Have a great weekend!
