What to Eat on a 100% Raw Alkaline Day

I often get asked exactly what I eat in day as an alkaline eater.

I’m 100% vegan – so no meat or dairy products ever and I like to eat a lot of my food raw and organic. Always low fat, high in carbs and low in protein. Did you know that 80% carbohydrates is optimum, with just 10% protein and 10% fats being more than enough to cover your nutritional needs? Yup! You get the best source of proteins from leafy greens without realising it often.

Once or twice a week I prefer to go 100% raw on what I eat. See my video below for a full breakdown of what I at this week on my 100% raw day. I ate purely organic fruits and vegetables and nothing more. You can try this too for great energy and a health boost 🙂

For my breakfast meal I starting off my day with leafy greens and minerals. I made a big salad and it tasted really lovely. It’s made up of organic leafy greens, green olives, organic grapes, beans, tomatoes, and cucumber. I actually made the dressing up as I went along (with ingredients I needed to use up). It’s made up of tomatillos which are a cross between tomatoes and physalis. It has this outer leafy thing, and they look like a physalis but they’re green and taste like tomatoes. I’ve blended up some of them with one whole mango, a little bit of cumin, half a lime, half a tomato, and some black pepper. These made my sweet salad dressing for my wonderful salad.

At 11 AM I ate a big punnet  of organic grapes and cherries. Approx 200 grams of cherries and 400 grams of grapes. So that’s about 350-400 calories in total.

Moving on to my mid-morning snack, I indulged myself with a delicious banana ice cream smoothie. Your bananas should be brown and spotty and you make ice cream by  freezing them beforehand. I’ve frozen about four bowls of these things and I took a bowl out of the freezer, placed 4 ½ bananas inside my Vitamix blender, added a little water and one mango to sweeten further. And there you go – a sweet, delightful healthy dessert that can melt your heart 🙂 By the way, coconut milk can also be an alternative for water. But I’m 100% raw today so I chose water instead.

Later I had a ‘raw energy ball’ I made with persimmons, apples, organic dates, spices (cinnamon and mixed spice) and raw oats which I frozen last week. I blended the ingredients together and each of the balls have about a hundred calories.

Lastly I had my quick lunch break before going back to work. I ate organic sugar snap peas and then a 500g pack of medjool dates.

Later in the evening I went to the gym for a short workout and then my boyfriend and I boarded a ferry to France for the weekend with our bicycles 🙂

On the ferry I ate my standard evening vegetable crudité ‘meal’ of lots of cut vegetables including carrots, cucumber, celery and broccoli.

Why not try a 100% raw vegan day yourself? It’s a great thing to do every now and then to really get in optimum nutrients and clean out your system, giving you lots of energy and really helps with fat loss, having great skin and generally feeling tip top!

    Hey Laura,

    I have a question that has been on my mind too long.
    I understand that having an alkaline diet and body prevents cancer, yet does this also apply when radio active particles have been ingested, for example a Strontium particle that launches itself in the bone and radiates the surrounding bone tissue for a long time? Since there have been about 2000 nuclear bomb tests in the northern hemisphere, combined with fallout from Chernobyl and now ongoing from Fukushima, this is an important issue to deal with, I think.

      Hi Marco,
      Interesting and important question, thank you. I would recommend drinking wheatgrass juice – it is great for detoxing the body – especially of heavy metals and airbourne toxins. I wouldn’t like to say the effect of the nuclear fallout, other than it’s bad! Therefore I’d say an alkaline diet is especially important

    Hi Laura,
    Hey I like your last video, the one where you had a little sing along at the end of the video.
    You should do this more often. You made me laugh at the end of the song when you for got the words. Any way you have a great voice, you could make a good wife to some one by singing to them
    when you get up in the mornings, It could make them feel they are in heaven. Ha Ha
